Las Vegas, NV – Fotopod, an award-winning design and manufacturing company specializing in photo booth solutions for clients in the photography, events, and corporate sectors, will attend the 2022 Photo Booth Expo in Las Vegas. The company will unveil its 360°ORB, a completely innovative and engaging video-capturing experience that is set to hit the market in second quarter of 2022.
The 360°ORB includes an array of features that includes the Photo Booth industry’s first dual-controlled white plus RGB 360° Pixel Tube LED DMX and Smart App-controlled lighting technology, coupled with a patent-pending top-mounted modular planetary motor design, packaged in a sleek safety enclosure setup.
Fotopod owner and chief designer Tu Le and his team spoke during the Las Vegas pre-launch event about how challenging but rewarding it was to bring such a unique product to the video-capturing and photo booth market. The Covid-2019-2021 lockdown forced the team of technical scientists, electrical and robotics engineers to collaborate remotely on a sleek 360-degree video capturing pod that focused on ease of use, reliability, and safe user experience. The team also worked closely with Hollywood’s movie magic Imagineers to develop the 360-degree LED lighting and top-mounted motorized enclosure-capturing system.

The 360°ORB’s approach to high-end event ownership and public safety is evident in many designs and hardware features. Its curved partition provides an instant crowd control barrier, so there is no need for bringing and setting up traditional heavy rope/ribbon stanchions. The curved wall is also designed to hold up all the surrounding LED Pixel Tube Lights without the need for additional tripod lighting stands. Guests no longer need to stand on unsafe raised platforms or trip over tripod stands and messy cables.
The product also features a 360-degree spinning armature and dynamic counterbalance weight system. The patent-pending adjustable apparatus, designed to hold the camera capturing device, will immediately disengage from the motor assembly if an object is accidentally struck, such as an unaware guest. With its built-in Lithium Power Station, the 360°ORB has no loose wires or power cables, eliminating occupational hazards.
UK-based Corporate Livewire Awards named the 360°ORB the Most Innovative 360 Photo Booth Award -2022. The industry-picked judges felt the 360°ORB was the most vital entrant in the crowded 360 Photo Booth market, leading to their decision.

If the 360°ORB can fit into this tiny 13ft x 15ft studio space (see above photo), then it should most likely fit in many indoor locations and tight spaces.
Fotopod designed the aluminum arch structure to fit under US modern standard 9ft tall ceilings. With an overall footprint of only 8 ft diameter, the 360°ORB is more than capable of handling most venues size requirements.

The Ultimate 360 Video Capturing Rig Supported by the 360°ORB
*NOTE: We noticed a slight wobble during motion testing as seen in the below video. We have now added additional truss cross-braces needed to support the heavier camera/lens rig.
The 360°ORB fits up to 8-10 guests, with a 7.3ft distance from the ground to the top of the capture arm. As shown in the photo above, the test mannequin stands at 6ft (183cm) tall. Therefore, there is still plenty of clearance for the taller guests.
The benefits of our patent-pending aluminum arch structure are that you can hang or mount physical props and stage effects from the arch-truss structure, such as chandeliers, disco balls, monitor panels, bubble/fog machines, etc.
Unlike typical metal or plexi-glass platform spinners, which can get wet and create a slipping hazard when using bubbles, you will not experience this problem with the 360°ORB, since guests will be standing on the non-slip rug. Feel free to integrate bubbles, fog machines, and other stage effects to help create that magical “slow-mo” video-capturing experience.

During the Covid-19 lock down of 2020, the Fotopod team hunkered down remotely and realized they needed to solve these meme-generating design flaws. So from the ground up (no pun), mechanical, electrical and robotic engineers combined forces with Hollywood ‘movie-magic’ imagineers to invent a top-mounted, motorized enclosure-capturing system, while simultaneously ditching the dangerous and unreliable raised spinner platforms altogether.

Assembly
- The ORB's all-aluminum triple-pole extrusion design provides superior structural strength, and is extremely light weight for easy setup/breakdown. Compared to a typical DJ or stage-truss setup, the proprietary 360°ORB truss design is up to 80% lighter! This translates into a very compact form-factor when transporting, handling and shipping. For example, the whole installation can fit into a Mini Cooper hatchback!
Operations
- The ORB installation only takes 10-15 minutes to setup or breakdown. Thanks to the factory installed bungee-ties (attached to keep the pole segments together), assembling the whole structure is literally a snap away! The 360°ORB system comes included with all the necessary hardware and travel cases to protect your gear and investment.
Safety
- The ORB's approach to ownership and public safety is unmatched. The curved partition provides an instant crowd control barrier. Thus, there is no need to bring and setup traditional heavy rope/ribbon stanchions. The guests inside the enclosure do not stand on any lifted platforms. The spinning arm is designed to immediately disengage from the motor assembly if an object is accidentally struck. Since the ORB is completely self-powered by the Lithium Power Station, there are no loose wires or power cables, which completely eliminates any occupational hazards.
Customer Use Case Scenario: The Fotopod customer received their 360°ORB Bundle on a Friday, and was already running the event the next day! (For a Saturday night prom event) We don’t advise this, but the event turned out amazing! The client and guests were blown away by the ORB experience! (insert exploding scalp emoji)
The Setup: The 360 lighting was not even dialed in, but the output video still looks dynamic right out of the box!
The Capturing Device: Customer used an iPhone 11, but upgrading to Mirror-less Camera such as a Canon M50 (software and hardware supported) or iPhone 13 can improve image quality.
The Software: Touchpix 360 App running on the iPhone 11, with a 55″ external monitor broadcasting the capturing experience in real-time using Airplay to stream the sessions.
Unforeseen Circumstances: During the event, one adolescent guest decided to be a wise guy, and grabbed hold of the spinning arm while it was still in motion. Normally, this would damage or burn out the motor, and cause damage to the belts or gears. Noticing that this could be a nightmare scenario during events, the Fotopod team designed the spinning arm to automatically disengage from the motor shaft if any external force is detected, such as someone grabbing or getting hit by the spinning arm. By using a patent-pending, ingenious magnetic clutch system, it was great to hear from the customer, that the whole collision detection system worked flawlessly. The arm instantly “snapped back” into the correct default position once the OP let go of the arm, and the whole 360°ORB was able to continue operation as normal. Equipment saved. Party saved!
